PLEASE READ THIS IOS DEVICE PREPARATION GUIDE IN FULL

To ensure a smooth and efficient filtering process, it is essential that all preparation steps outlined below are completed prior to your scheduled appointment.

  1. Gather Your Credentials:

Please make sure you know and have readily available:

  • Device Passcode: The code used to unlock the screen. If your device is running iOS 18 or higher, you will temporarily need to remove your device passcode and Face ID/Touch ID in order to install the filter. **NOTE** - THIS WILL REMOVE CARDS STORED IN YOUR APPLE WALLET, AND DOWNLOADED MUSIC IN APPLE MUSIC APP.

  • Apple ID & Password: The email address and password associated with your Apple account.

  • Screen Time Passcode: If you use Screen Time and have set a separate passcode for it.

  1. Action Required: Disable Stolen Device Protection (For iPhones only!)

This Apple security feature must be temporarily disabled to allow the filter profile to be installed. Please check this setting carefully, even if you don't think you have enabled it.

  • Go to Settings.

  • Tap Face ID & Passcode (or Touch ID & Passcode).

  • Enter your device passcode.

  • Scroll down to Stolen Device Protection.

  • Check if it's ON. If it is ON, you need to turn it OFF:

When you first attempt to turn off Stolen Device Protection, Apple will initiate a 60-minute security delay, and a countdown timer will appear on the screen. After the 60 minutes have elapsed, you must return to this setting and toggle Stolen Device Protection off again, at which point you will be required to authenticate using Face ID. Note: If you are disabling this feature while in a familiar location (such as when connected to your home Wi Fi), the 60 minute security delay will be bypassed, and Stolen Device Protection will turn off immediately.

  1. Device Readiness:

  • Battery: Ensure your device has at least 20% battery charge.

  • Software Updates: Your device needs to be running iOS 16 or newer for full filter compatibility. Please install any pending iOS updates before your appointment. (Note: If your device cannot update past iOS 15, only certain filter types may be compatible.)

  • Storage: Make sure there is at least 0.5 GB (500 MB) of free storage space. Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage (or iPad Storage) to check.

  1. Clear Existing Filters & Profiles:

  • Remove Other Filters: Uninstall or remove any other content filtering apps or software currently on the device, as they can conflict with the new filter.

  • Important: If you have a non-removable company/work/employer Device Management profile, we will, unfortunately, not be able to enroll your device under our filtering service.

New Devices:  If you are bringing a brand-new device to be filtered, please complete the initial iOS setup process (language, region, Wi-Fi, basic Apple ID login) and download any apps you may want before the appointment.

Android

  • Please make sure you know the device’s unlock code (pattern or PIN).

  • If you are bringing a new device, complete the initial setup before arriving.

  • If you have a Samsung device, please sign out of your Samsung account in advance.

  • During the installation process, we may need to temporarily remove email accounts from the device. These can be added back afterward, so please make sure you know your email passwords.

  • Ensure the device has at least 20% battery before your appointment.

  • Confirm there is at least 0.5 GB of available storage on the device.

  • Please remove any existing filters prior to your appointment.

Computers (Mac / PC / Chromebook)

  • Please ensure you have administrator access to the computer and permission to install software.

  • Make sure the device is fully updated before your appointment.

  • Ensure the device has at least 40% battery, or bring a working charger.

  • Some security programs (such as antivirus software) may need to be temporarily disabled or removed to avoid conflicts during installation.

  • For Chromebooks, please make sure you know what's involved with the filtering process
